Why Wanting Gifts isn’t selfish after all!

In today’s episode we continue our series on love languages. Today’s focus is Gift giving and Acts of Service.

A gift is something that you can hold in your hand that says, I was thinking of you. Dr. Chapman talks about how is is not the thought implanted only in the mind that counts, but the thought expressed in actually securing the gift and giving it as the expression of love.

For some of us, we really can’t connect with gift giving because it was done infrequently if at all. So how do you learn to love someone in this language?

Remember it starts with a thought, I am thinking about them. So we have to learn to share our head space with someone.

Do we struggle with serving others? Do we feel like they can do it for themselves? After all I do it all for myself? Or maybe we don’t like how much time it takes out of our day to love others with Acts of Service?

Each of us must daily decide to love our people in their language. It takes getting our eyes off of ourselves and more on others while still keeping healthy boundaries!
